About The Position

Maybern is transforming the way private fund managers effectively manage their funds through cutting edge technology. Maybern is founded by top engineering experts with deep knowledge of the fund management space. Private funds manage $15T in capital and are growing at 20% YoY, but with increasing regulatory scrutiny and investor demands for transparency, the need for world class software to help private fund CFOs is crucial. This is where Maybern comes in. We are equipping fund managers with intuitive, flexible fund management software, enabling private investment managers to focus on what they do best: driving returns for their investors. We are backed by leading venture capital firms and a large number of strategic investors. Maybern is an NYC based company with a strong in-office culture to drive collaboration, and we are looking to make strong additions to our team. We're looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to roll up their sleeves and build our scenario modeling product from the ground up. This is an entirely new product aimed at transforming how CFOs forecast, analyze, and plan. In this role, you'll be a hands-on technical contributor first — writing code, shaping architecture, and driving execution while also managing and growing a single engineering team. We're looking for someone who thrives in 0-to-1 environments, knows how to move fast, and is energized by the challenge of turning ideas into production-ready features.

Requirements

Have 10+ years of engineering experience, including +2 years managing engineers and technical leaders, ideally across multiple teams.
Have shipped a product from 0 to 1 and have a strong sense of ownership over the technical decisions and tradeoffs.
Are a strong technical mentor who leads through code reviews, pairing, and clear technical standards.
Thrive at early-stage startups and are comfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, and building process where none exists yet.

Nice To Haves

Experience with a diverse range of technologies. Plus for experience with the following:
Django or similar Python frameworks
Celery/Temporal or other distributed worker frameworks
Redis/SQS
AWS or other cloud platforms
Postgres or other SQL solutions
Typescript and React

Responsibilities

Build, Hands-On: Write and review code regularly as a core part of your role. You'll set the technical tone through direct contribution, not just oversight, and take real ownership of the scenario modeling product's architecture and delivery.
Lead a Team: Manage and develop a small engineering team — running 1:1s, providing feedback, and creating an environment where engineers do their best work.
Drive Execution: Translate product priorities into clear engineering plans and keep the team moving. Partner closely with Product to scope, sequence, and ship.
Shape Technical Direction: Make pragmatic architectural decisions for the scenario modeling surface. Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and performance without over-engineering.
