About The Position

Posh is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5-8 highly motivated engineers building the technology behind our mission to bring people together through shared, real-world experiences. In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of product, design, and engineering, owning the delivery and technical quality of 1 of our 2 core pods: Organizer (b2b) & Consumer (social). You’ll be responsible for building and scaling systems that empower organizers to launch and monetize IRL communities, while delivering delightful social discovery experiences for consumers. This role is for a highly technical individual who has shifted to the management track in the last few years, gaining energy and excitement from democratizing their expertise throughout teams. You’ll set a high technical bar through hands-on architectural guidance, thoughtful code and design reviews, and by unblocking complex technical challenges. You’ll help your team ship reliably and efficiently while balancing short-term execution with long-term system health. This is an in-person role based in our New York City office in the heart of SoHo. Building live experiences and building with soul are important for our customers, and we believe being and working together as a team is the best way for Posh to feel and achieve this. Events on Posh are fun, alive, and driven with passion; we mirror this in how we collaborate, IRL every day.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience: you were a Staff or Principal Engineer before moving onto management.
  • You still actively program outside of work; you are passionate about the latest technologies and get excited about sharing your learnings to develop more junior engineers.
  • You have proven experience leading technically complex, consumer-facing or marketplace products with millions of users.
  • You have deep experience with system design and large-scale production systems.
  • You have a track record of mentoring engineers through real technical work, not just process. You can point to clear examples where you have up-leveled talent through your guidance.
  • You have strong product intuition and comfort navigating ambiguity, making tradeoffs, and aligning engineering work to product and business goals.
  • You have excellent communication skills: you know how to command a room and run a meeting, but also know when to listen & create a strong space for collaborative ideas to flourish.
  • You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, founder-led environment with high expectations

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a pod of 5–8 engineers through mentorship, performance management, and technical direction.
  • Identify high-slope talent, make hard decisions on low performers, and establish & execute against a clear hiring strategy that continues to raise the bar for excellence on your team.
  • Achieve the closest possible thing to building a perfect product; scrutinizing and iterating on every process and technology decision made across your team, while balancing velocity with long-term system health and product excellence
  • Align with cross-functional stakeholders to highlight the importance/prioritize non-customer facing work (infra, dev ops, etc) against feature improvements, ensuring we build for scale while continuing to provide our users with ever-evolving features.
  • Actively participate in RFC reviews, architectural discussions, and system design conversations
  • Confidently challenge Staff-level decisions when assumptions, tradeoffs, or risks warrant it
  • Raise and maintain a high bar for code quality, reliability, and performance as the platform scales. Implement and enforce processes that ensure quality over everything.
  • Collaborate with leadership & product management to translate product strategy/features into clear technical plans, milestones, and execution paths with clear delivery timelines.
  • Proactively introduce and evaluate new technologies pragmatically, including modern AI tools and workflows that meaningfully increase product velocity and developer experience.
  • Model urgency, ownership, and technical rigor as a trusted technical leader within the organization.
