About The Position

Primary Function: Oversees the development and implementation of engineering processes to maintain and improve proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Leads and directs the work of assigned engineers and toolmakers. Works with customers to resolve problems and develop new business opportunities. Assists in establishing Plant-wide strategic goals and initiatives. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises engineers and toolmakers. Functions as the materials testing lab manager. Directs engineers in their assignments. Establishes metrics for engineers. Reviews blueprints and approves quotes. Reviews specifications to ensure product compliance. Works directly with shop floor personnel. Tracks development projects and ensures due dates are met. Meets with engineers daily to follow projects, set priorities, and move resources as required. Coordinates engineering priorities for assistance to production areas. Prioritizes tooling build projects. Manages tool shop to achieve EBIT goals. Coordinates the development of new products and processes with engineers and operations manager. Visits customers to resolve technical issues and discuss business opportunities. Corresponds with customers on regular basis through phone and e-mail. Establishes engineering procedures. Manages and maintains the digital product definition (D.P.D.) process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Able to create project plans and manage projects.
  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Able to read and comprehend English.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Able to apply concepts of fractions, perrcentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. frequently.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific; and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Able to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office applications.
  • Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of training or experience in Engineering Management
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with Investment Casting
