About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering operations within an assigned manufacturing site or division of the organization. This role focuses on the execution of engineering strategies, delivery of projects, and day-to-day management of engineering resources in support of production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives. Working under the direction of the Corporate Engineering Manager, the Engineering Manager ensures engineering initiatives are aligned with corporate standards while meeting local operational needs. The Engineering Manager serves as a key technical leader at the site/divisional level, collaborating closely with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and product development teams to support efficient cylinder manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Internet Explorer, Made2Manage, SolidWorks, PDM, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or an associate degree or equivalent from a two-year or technical institution; or 3-5 years of relevant experience with design software and/or cylinder design; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Vocational school training in a related field
  • Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead diverse teams and communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Experience with managing large, complex engineering projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of the engineering discipline relevant to the industry.
  • Financial Acumen: Budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation skills.
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation: Ability to troubleshoot, innovate, and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop site- or division-level engineering teams.
  • Translate corporate engineering strategies and standards into actionable site-level plans.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making support to engineering staff and operations.
  • Manage the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects at the site or divisional level.
  • Ensure projects meet technical requirements, production needs, timelines, and budget targets.
  • Coordinate project activities with manufacturing and other departments to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Track project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support and execute divisional Quality Control (QC) programs in alignment with corporate quality standards and ISO requirements.
  • Participate in audits, corrective action initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor engineering-related quality metrics such as scrap, rework, non-conformances, and warranty-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to improve process capability and product reliability.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to support production goals.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Engineering, R&D, and product development teams on new product introductions and process changes.
  • Communicate project status, technical issues, and performance metrics to site leadership and corporate engineering.
  • Assist in developing and managing the site or divisional engineering budget.
  • Prioritize engineering resources, including personnel, tooling, and capital equipment, to support operational needs.
  • Identify cost-reduction and efficiency-improvement opportunities within engineering-controlled processes.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to corporate engineering standards, design guidelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure engineering solutions promote safe manufacturing practices.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor engineers and technical staff at the site or divisional level.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and support employee development plans.
  • Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the engineering team.
