About The Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our Microgrid Controller group. The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team of engineers focused on the development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced microgrid control systems. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for innovation in the energy sector! This is a remote role with preference given to candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone. The expected annual salary range for this role is $130,000 - $190,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience, including at least three (3) years in a leadership role;
  • Proven track record in managing and delivering complex engineering projects, with at least two completed product development cycles;
  • Hands-on experience working with microgrid systems, power electronics, and control systems;
  • Experience with C#, C/C++, Python, and real-time operating systems (RTOS);
  • Experience with Linux application containers (Docker);
  • Experience with Codesys – IEC 61131-3.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Experience with Agile design methodologies;
  • Experience with industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850.
  • Proficiency in English and French (ability to work in both languages).
  • To support team collaboration, preference will be given to candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers in the design, development, and deployment of microgrid control systems.
  • Work with the Distributed Energy Systems (DES) Offer Manager and the Power Systems Control Product Manager to develop a roadmap of New Product Development projects.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering centers of excellence, sales, and customer support, to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of Microgrid Controllers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation for the engineering team.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Liaise with and functionally report to the DERMS CoE
