Engineering Manager (SDK)

MolocoSeattle, WA
13d$216,000 - $270,000

About The Position

The Moloco SDK is our proprietary publisher-facing SDK designed for direct integration with app publishers. It serves as a cornerstone of Moloco’s supply strategy, enabling both direct and mediation-based integrations. By providing advanced technical capabilities and optimized ad delivery, the SDK allows Moloco to push the boundaries of performance and technical excellence in the mobile ecosystem. As the SDK Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the high-quality delivery of the SDK platform. While ensuring engineering excellence in these core areas is fundamental, we are looking for a leader who will transcend operational management to define the technical and business strategies that power our publisher ecosystem. Sitting at the heart of our technical stack, you will drive publisher-facing capabilities and ecosystem growth, enable creative innovation, improve end-to-end performance, and strengthen the technical foundations required for scale. Working closely with Serving, Bidding, Creative, and SDK teams across Moloco, you will ensure the ecosystem evolves as a cohesive, high-performing platform. Historically, the team has focused on rapid feature delivery. As we enter the next phase of growth, this role is about evolving the SDK platform for long-term reliability, scalability, and sustainability. You will go beyond executing individual features to shaping the integration architecture at the ecosystem layer, aligning strategic roadmaps, and bridging the gap between client-side SDKs and our high-scale backend infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience in one or more relevant areas such as SDK, backend systems, infrastructure, supply or mediation, creative platforms, or adjacent ad tech domains.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience as an engineering manager, tech lead manager, or equivalent.
  • Direct experience working within the publisher SDK, mediation, or supply domains, OR a proven track record of working in close collaboration with these areas to deliver high-impact results.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and partner teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and translate broad business or product needs into clear engineering direction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on or direct experience in the publisher SDK development (client / backend).
  • Experience working closely with SDK teams, even without being the primary hands-on client SDK developer.
  • Familiarity with both client-side and server-side considerations in ads or monetization platforms.
  • Experience improving reliability, observability, scalability, and release quality for production systems.
  • Experience working in high-scale ad tech, monetization, or platform environments.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers or tech leads and helping organizations raise their technical bar.
  • Experience partnering across engineering, product, and business teams in fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the SDK engineering team and help define technical direction, execution priorities, and team operating rhythm.
  • Drive the evolution of the SDK organization beyond feature delivery, with stronger focus on reliability, scalability, maintainability, and long-term technical health.
  • Partner with existing technical leaders to ensure strong alignment between client-side SDK development and broader platform architecture.
  • Guide technical decision-making across SDK-related systems with sound engineering judgment and pragmatic trade-off management.
  • Work closely with engineering teams across backend, serving, infrastructure, supply, mediation, and creative domains.
  • Help connect the SDK stack more effectively with the broader DSP serving ecosystem and identify opportunities for system-level optimization.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, Solutions Engineering, and business stakeholders to align roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Drive cross-team alignment when solving ambiguous or multi-stakeholder technical problems.
  • Improve engineering quality across architecture, testing, release management, observability, incident handling, and operational rigor.
  • Build a healthy team culture with strong ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Coach and grow engineers and technical leaders through feedback, mentoring, and clear expectations.
  • Help attract and hire strong talent by contributing to role definition, candidate evaluation, and org design.
