As an Engineering Manager on the Product Platforms team, the role involves leading the development of core systems for payments, commerce, scheduling, and integrations. This is a backend and systems-heavy position, focusing on complex domain modeling and platform capabilities where reliability, scalability, and API design are paramount. The manager will partner with Product to shape systems supporting multiple product surfaces and coach their team through ambiguity, trade-offs, and long-term architectural decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineers.
• Strong background in building and scaling backend or platform systems.
• Experience designing APIs and working across distributed systems.
• Ability to think in terms of systems, abstractions, and long-term architecture.
• Experience leading teams through complex technical problem spaces.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in FinTech, commerce, or platform ecosystems.
• Background with event-driven systems or service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with Elixir, React, or similar technologies.
• MBA or advanced degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 5–8 engineers focused on platform and backend systems.
• Own systems that power key domains like transactions, catalogs, entitlements, and integrations.
• Partner with Product on complex domain modeling and system design.
• Drive architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Improve API design, system boundaries, and service ownership.
• Coach engineers on navigating technical ambiguity and trade-offs.
• Ensure operational excellence for critical platform services.
