About The Position

As an NVH & Structures Engineering Manager at Mercury Marine you will drive innovation and technical excellence in our NVH & Structures team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping the acoustic, vibration and durability performance of our marine propulsion systems, ensuring every product delivers a superior customer experience. You will serve as the technical authority for NVH, collaborating across engineering disciplines to solve complex challenges and elevate Mercury Marine’s reputation for quality and performance. Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in NVH.
  • 2+ years of experience leading technical projects and leading engineers and/or technicians.
  • Proficient with NVH data acquisition hardware and analysis software packages (e.g. Siemens Simcenter Test.Lab, HEAD acoustics ArtemiS, VI-Grade NVH Simulator, etc).
  • Expert practitioner of a wide range of NVH disciplines, including acoustic and noise control, sound quality evaluation, modal analysis, transfer path analysis, and rotating machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in an engineering discipline with a focus in NVH.
  • Familiarity with CAE simulation tools for NVH performance prediction.
  • Experience with environmental vibration, servo-hydraulic, and bolted joint test methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the planning and execution of NVH test and analysis activities for new product development programs.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for NVH, advising leadership and design teams on solutions to achieve world-class noise, vibration, and harshness attributes.
  • Ensure NVH performance meets market expectations and aligns with Mercury Marine’s brand standards.
  • Team & Resource Management: Manage HR and budget resource plans for the NVH, Shaker, Servo-Hydraulic, Bolted Joint, and Thermal laboratories and staff.
  • Manage the priority and execution of test requests to align customer expectations with business needs.
  • Develop growth plans for personnel, test / analysis tools, and facilities to successfully deliver the future product portfolio.
  • Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, analysis, manufacturing) to integrate NVH solutions early in the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine designs using test, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of NVH issues in prototype and production environments.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Benchmark competitive products and technologies to guide NVH innovation and performance standards.
  • Author and review technical reports, test procedures, and work instructions to streamline processes and document advanced methodologies.
  • Support training and development in emerging NVH technologies.
