About The Position

Wood is currently recruiting for a talented technical leader of our consulting services within the alternative fuels and low carbon sectors throughout the Americas. Wood is uniquely positioned to accelerate the development of the energy augmentation and energy transition projects of the world's leading conventional energy companies , advising on road mapping, technology definition, assessment and selection. This role will be focused on engineering and consulting services from concept through to pre-FEED stages. As Director of Alternative Fuels and Low Carbon you will be at the center of Wood’s consulting and engineering services, connected to digital, data, engineering, project delivery, and the wider business to enable you to unlock growth and market capture. This is an exciting role with responsibility for thought leadership, client engagement, team resourcing and development, and technical delivery. You will be main contributor to the development and delivery of strategic growth plans to establish and expand Wood’s existing consulting business within the downstream process and chemicals, carbon capture and power-to-fuels markets. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong background in engineering and client engagement and robust knowledge of the onshore conventional energies and new energies markets. A highly motivated individual with technical experience and strong business acumen, who is interested in making a mark in a growing international organization, will thrive in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Chemicals-related discipline required, Master’s degree an asset
  • 10+ years of experience working in the Process and Chemicals consulting space
  • 16+ years of relevant work experience in Process and Chemicals markets
  • Strong ability to mentor team members, provide feedback, and guide professional development
  • Strong interest and ability to network and find solutions for clients and partners
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering standards, best practices and safety regulations
  • Willingness for occasional worldwide travel
  • Must be a US citizen or have authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategy for growth, support business development activities through client engagement
  • Lead a team locally, including advising on proposed execution plans and deliverables and managing team utilization
  • Generate demand for consulting services and drive profitable growth by staying connected to current and prospective clients
  • Establish strong global relationships with colleagues across Wood to foster visibility, collaboration and internal demand for team capabilities
  • Provide thought leadership and industry engagement via conference presentations and webinars
  • Build robust team capabilities, including appropriate succession and development planning
  • Create an organizational culture that fosters innovation and collaboration, continuous improvement, and change
  • Prioritize 40% of time on client engagement, identifying and acquiring new opportunities and 60% of the time on project delivery and execution activities
