The Engineering and Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all plant engineering and maintenance operations to ensure maximum equipment reliability, uptime, and safe production. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, capital projects, facility modifications, and contractor management while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, safety, and company standards. The Manager partners cross-functionally with operations, corporate engineering, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, cost control, and operational excellence. Additionally, this role develops and manages maintenance systems, budgets, and long-term asset strategies while coaching and developing supervisors and fostering a safe, engaged, and high-performing workforce. Pay is $130k - $150k based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in maintenance management or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent root cause/corrective action and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Direct and plan maintenance and plant engineering operations to maximize equipment uptime and production.
  • Oversee planning related to modification of existing plant facilities or installation of new plant facilities including all equipment, costs, specifications, timetables, etc.
  • Maintain communication between plant engineering and other departments, outside contractors, corporate engineering, regulatory agencies, etc. as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Oversee and coordinate outside contractors working at the plant to verify that work is completed safely, meets specifications and results, and is in accordance with plant and company policies.
  • Ensure all federal, state, local and company regulations are observed and enforced.
  • Develop an effective machinery maintenance program, including preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Assess quality of repairs, diagnosis of equipment problems, and ensure adequate supplies of materials and/or parts required to complete repairs.
  • Maintain close observation over maintenance operations, providing guidance concerning proper maintenance methods.
  • Evaluate work performance and counsel and coach supervisors to maintain efficient work performance.
  • Oversee the development and operation of maintenance data systems, delay reporting, inventory control, equipment history, and maintenance cost tracking.
  • Develop short and long-term plans relating to operating costs, labor requirements, equipment replacement, overhaul and shutdowns.
  • Prepare budget for engineering projects and maintenance operations and administer and control budget during the business year.
  • Maintain open communications with employees and work with employees to mutually resolve problems to enhance morale and promote an union-free environment.
  • Enforce the proper use of safety equipment and ensure departmental housekeeping to produce a safe work environment.
