Position Summary The IDEX Optical Technologies, Rochester Semicon Business Line is looking for an Engineering Leader with a passion for solving problems and collaborating with teams. In this role, the engineering leader supports production by setting direction and coordinating manufacturing and production design engineers to improve process efficiency, and introduce new products for ‘non-strategic’ opportunities. This a working leader role, directly involved in manufacturing / design work to add additional capacity to the existing engineering team.

  • B.S. or higher in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field or the equivalence in work experience.
  • Eight or more years experience in the field of manufacturing engineering.
  • Familiar with using statistical process control or similar methods.
  • Two years direct engineering team leadership / supervision
  • This position is a site-based role
  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to support production demands
  • Use eyesight for all aspects of the job daily
  • Operate computer, grinder, saws, precision fabrication equipment, measuring tools, and hand tools as required
  • Bend as necessary to lift, lower, push, pull, or operate and maintain equipment and accessories
  • Effectively transport tooling, equipment, materials, and sharp objects safely within the department
  • Safety glasses are worn to prevent eye damage
  • Ear plugs and gloves are also provided
  • Exposure to minimal fumes from alcohol and acetone
  • Safety equipment is provided
  • Must have prior safety training
  • The ability to lift up to one hundred pounds with assistance occasionally and up to fifty pounds frequently, due to the weight of machinery and materials.
  • This position requires standing to a significant degree in order to operate machinery safely.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement for manufacturing
  • Responds to production product / process non-conformities, assisting production technicians as part of issue escalation
  • Leads the effort towards conducting root cause analysis and develops effective countermeasures
  • Creates and manages timelines for projects
  • Build and improve process around new product introduction coordination, including engineering and other support functions
  • Creates and implements methodology for improved workflow and testing capabilities
  • Documents all procedures for newly developed processes and on-going projects
  • Creates metrics to track process capability and improvement
  • As needed creates or recommends creation of drawings for required jigs
  • Translates customer specifications into procedures to be performed by the department
  • Interacts with various departments that impact production and process issues improve productivity and quality
  • Establishes, follows, and enforces all safety regulations
  • Utilizes data analysis techniques to prioritize solutions
  • Effectively communicates change at all levels in organization
