About The Position

The Engineering Intern assists in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and the supporting equipment and systems. This position will be expected to support various projects as determined by department managers. Here's a look at the projects planned during this internship period: Commission rebuilt engine – Work with operations and maintenance to perform checks, rounds and inspections. Overhead crane replacement – Assist with ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed by the contractors. Assist with ensuring all documentation required for MOC is supplied and saved. Review and trace plant systems – Update P&IDs as needed. 4k and 2k maintenances – Assist with performing these maintenance activities. Inventory audit – Assist with verifying inventory counts and updating the CMMS. Internship Experiences: Safety policies, procedures, and best practices Drawing updates Data collection and analysis Plant operations Engine and BOP maintenance Inventory / CMMS

Requirements

  • Accepting applications from current students enrolled in an Engineering program; third year student in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Educational concentration in power generation systems and equipment, including operational theory and engineering safety is desired.
  • Demonstrated capability to analyze and correct problems that occur
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Project
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers' license

  • Some experience in power plant operations and maintenance a plus
