About The Position

Bonnell Aluminum is seeking engineering students who possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Interns will be responsible for analyzing production data to identify opportunities for improvement within a manufacturing environment. Selected candidates will gain valuable experience working across various stages of production, from raw materials to finished products. As a leading manufacturer in the aluminum extrusion industry, Bonnell Aluminum adopts a company-wide Lean manufacturing approach designed to streamline operations, simplify processes, and reduce material handling. Our internship program offers students practical exposure to the manufacturing sector, engineering principles, automation, Lean methodologies, and robotics. Internships will take place during June and July 2026. This is a paid internship, $25.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • Academic Background: Requires possession of a degree in an engineering field or be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in engineering.
  • Academic Requirement: Must obtain at least a 2.776 GPA or better in all classes.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in relevant software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office, AI etc.).
  • Grades / Transcript: Submit Official Grades / Transcript to Human Resources.
  • Miscellaneous: Eligibility to work in the U.S. without Sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma.
  • Experience in aluminum, extrusion processes, or metal working.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Engineering Projects: Interns will be assigned applicable tasks and projects under the supervision of a senior engineer.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Interns will work with other team members to achieve project goals.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Interns will be required to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to projects.
  • Interact with Other Teams: Intern will be required to communicate and collaborate with other departments including Extrusion, Maintenance, Quality, Packing, Shipping, Fabrication and TSLOTS.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Interns will be responsible for documenting project progress and preparing reports for supervisors.
  • Learn and Apply Best Practices: Interns will learn and apply industry best practices and standards (e.g. Lean manufacturing and Training Within Industry).
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Interns will participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Interns will be required to provide a presentation outlining their experience upon completion of the Internship.
  • Communication Skills: Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Possess ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
  • Teamwork Skills: Possess ability to work collaboratively with others and in teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Be able to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
