About The Position

The Engineer Intern learns, grows, and applies engineering tools and knowledge (mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, civil, structural, environmental, economics, maintenance, and ergonomics) to assist developing, leading, and implement cost savings and cost prevention projects. Additionally, this position uses project management skills to keep initiatives and projects on track. The Engineer Intern is responsible for working with various departments and teams to support improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes required to maintain high quality products in a repeatable and cost-effective manner. This position reports to the Director of Engineering with dotted line accountability to the Plant Engineers for project and site-specific direction. As a change agent, this position is accountable for modeling Bama's values and foundational principles.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to solve problems
  • Currently enrolled in an engineering program
  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Actively pursuing a degree in engineering. Preferred engineering discipline in mechanical, biosystems/agricultural, chemical, industrial, and/or electrical fields
  • Strong project management skills
  • Working knowledge of CAD design software - 2D AutoCAD, 3D Inventor, 3D Fusion360
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of software
  • Strong technical abilities in making detailed observations, analyzing data, interpreting results, problem solving and project coordination

  • Possess the ability to summarize information to create reports
  • Comply with all Bama policies and procedures
  • Evaluate data and create reports on efficiency and analyze trends
  • Provide administrative and engineering support for a variety of projects
  • Identify and report safety violations, hazards, and/or near misses that you see or become aware of
