About The Position

AMA is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Engineering CFD Intern to support the Research, Science, and Engineering Services (RSES) contract at NASA Langley Research Center during Spring 2026 with the start date of January 12, 2026. This internship will be 16-weeks long. As an intern, you will use novel solvers and/or advanced CFD methodologies to analyze and perform design shape optimization for transition delay/laminar flow control applications at high-speed conditions. This position can be remote. About the Project: Laminar Flow Control and Design for High-Speed Configurations The selected candidate will focus on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) research and will be assigned to the Computational AeroSciences Branch at NASA Langley Research Center. The intern will use novel solvers and/or advanced CFD methodologies to analyze and perform design shape optimization for transition delay/laminar flow control applications at high-speed conditions. The role requires at least a rudimentary understanding of computational fluid dynamics and knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, or Fortran. Prior experience with running large-scale CFD code(s) will be a strong plus. Pay for this position is $24.33 - $27.90, depending on education and location.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a research-oriented environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with running large-scale CFD code(s) will be a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in laboratory testing of materials and coatings.
  • Conduct characterization of wear, abrasion, and dust adhesion properties.
  • Support data collection, documentation, and analysis.
  • Perform hands-on work with experimental setups, instruments, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and researchers to evaluate material performance.
