About The Position

The basic function of the Engineer Intern is to assist the engineering team in establishing capable processes, identifying and implementing process inputs and provide clear, concise quality plans/work instructions to optimize productivity, repeatability, cost effectiveness, and ensure customer requirements are met. Define, design &/or procure all special tooling and gauging required that will maintain repeatability goals and justify associated costs. Assist Engineers to determine the cost effectiveness of hard tooling or custom fixture design. Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, and machine utilization, as required. Revise methods of operation or other changes to increase production or improve standards. Take on and often lead a special project from start to finish. Interns can expect to acquire skills that are essential to succeed in their chosen field. Each intern will gain direct experience in project planning, setting milestones, measuring project performance and risk mitigation. This internship is available to a junior or senior majoring in a related field at an Iowa college or university.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be enrolled and have junior or senior status at an accredited Iowa institution in a related field
  • Spring interns: Minimum of 14 weeks, averaging no less than 30 hours per week.
