About Our Internship Program: Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. The interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team-oriented and collaborative. The Job: During your internship, you will have the opportunity to support Product Design with key activities including: Assist in higher-level industrial designers in the conceptualization and development of new products. Create the documentation necessary to convey design solutions to higher level Industrial Designers through either 2D or 3D means. Work with and support our UX/UI team. Projects will consist of on-product user interface, embedded displays, and digital applications. Assists UI/UX designers on specific portions of projects as necessary. Work with other designers to develop preliminary product concepts on potential new products or features. Provide higher level Industrial Designers support as necessary including renderings, presentations and field research. Maintain effective channels of communication with all project team personnel. Work is of moderate difficulty and limited scope with specific and detailed instructions. This person must create the documentation necessary to convey design solutions to higher level Industrial Designers through either 2D or 3D means. These would include Cintiq sketches, Autodesk Alias or CATIA product concepts, KeyShot renderings, Gravity Sketch concepts, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, product graphic labeling or Powerpoint presentations to deliver and communicate consumer focused product design concepts. The Person: The ideal Product Design intern candidate will have the following qualifications: Be a rising junior or senior with a target graduation date of 2027 or 2028. Actively pursuing a degree in Industrial Design or related field. Familiarity with 3D CAD systems and an interest in surface creation. Experience in 2D analog /digital sketching and rendering (Cintiq, Autodesk Alias, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator Sketchbook) Knowledge of parametric 3D modeling is a plus (CATIA product concepts, KeyShot rendering, Gravity Sketch concepts, Solidworks, Alias, Rhino, etc.) Successfully manages strong academics alongside extracurricular activities. Requirements
