The Role Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a team, influence the customer experience, and apply technical expertise across the entire vehicle? Consider the Engineering Group Manager (EGM) role for Global Vehicle Hardware Engineering Quality. As part of the GVHE Performance Intelligence team, the EGM leads a high‑performing group responsible for forecasting and achieving quality targets across all GVHE subsystems. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in product development and/or product quality.
  • Technical knowledge of hardware components and vehicle-level integration
  • Proven executive-level communication and storytelling skills
  • Strong experience leading or coaching others.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and align cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong track record of structured problem solving, risk management, and decisive execution
  • Experience managing program scope, timelines, budgets, and VDP/GVDP milestones
  • Results-driven mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with GM Vehicle Program processes, tools, and deliverables
  • Consistent demonstration of GM Behaviors, including integrity, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and continuous learning

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in analyzing and synthesizing Quality/Reliability/Durability (QRD) data to track performance against KSI targets.
  • Develop gap-to-target plans and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver on glidepath commitments.
  • Present quality metric status, trends, and forecasts to leadership at multiple levels.
  • Coach and guide team members and partners on quality tools and data usage; drive cross-functional root-cause identification, solution development, and implementation with SMTs.
  • Oversee staffing initiatives, facilitate regular team meetings, communicate GM policies and strategic direction, and prepare/present functional updates.
  • Ensure compliance with required GM and functional training; support employee career development and implement initiatives to build team capability and capacity.
  • Delegate and balance workloads effectively, establishing clear priorities for individuals and the group.
  • Provide timely, candid performance and behavior feedback; lead performance interventions when needed.
  • Recognize employee contributions formally and informally; participate in compensation planning and administer compensation processes.
  • Proactively remove roadblocks, resolve issues, and address concerns to maintain team momentum.
