Responsibilities

  • Directs a mechanical engineering group responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete engineering programs for the Panel CMP KPU, in accordance with project budgets and release schedules.
  • Responsible for professional development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.
  • Works with senior business group management team to ensure that such programs, strategies, and processes are aligned with the organization’s direction
  • Anticipates future needs and initiates the development and implementation of new approaches to mechanical engineering design and development
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers on unusually complex mechanical engineering issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for the unit's product line
  • Develops long-range plans and creates mechanical engineering or product specific strategies to reach goals and reviews engineering specifications
  • Defines performance metrics and reports on the mechanical engineering groups progress against specific goals
  • Provides approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers in the area of long-term program, strategy, and process design
  • Assures that a full range of technical reviews are held for the unit's product line
