About The Position

We are seeking an Engineering Director Energy to join our team in Richland, WA. Your role Manages all engineering activities performed by AtkinsRealis US Nuclear on New Nuclear and engineering projects as assigned. Manages assigned portions of engineering project budget. Provides direction and oversight of delivery of engineering services and deliverables for engineering portfolio in accordance with quality, cost and schedule goals. Responsible for developing and implementing approved Engineering Plans for projects, or phases of the projects. Responsible for the overall project design change control and configuration management, ensuring the design is defined, controlled and verified, and that all design inputs and interfaces are complete, substantiated, verified and documented. Responsible for technical integration and interface control both within the project across the various disciplines involved, and with the client. Responsible for the selection and review for suitability of application the design methods, materials, parts, equipment, and processes that are essential to the safety and performance of structures, systems and components. Ensures qualified and appropriate staff are working on the project and are assigned work within their experience and skills. Provides coaching to team members and performance feedback to the Project Manager during their assignment to the project. Executes the Design Authority function as required and as delegated for the project scope by the Design Authority. Responsible for technical deliverables budget, schedule and quality. Ensures that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear code and standards. Reviews and approves key technical documentation for projects, or phases of projects. Monitors the technical quality of engineering deliverables for projects, or phases of projects. Responsible for identifying and proposing improvements in the areas of the project – both proactively and in response to customer requirements. Ensures security access requirements including need to know are implemented on a project. Interfaces with the Project Director, Procurement Manager, Manufacturing Manager, NSSS Vendor, Design Builder, Construction Manager, and Site Engineering Manager for all site engineering matters in project, or phase of the project, as applicable. Liaise with the Project Managers regarding the technical quality of subcontracted engineering services. Liaise with external client engineering organization at the behest of the Project Manager regarding the technical matters. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 15 years industry related experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience supporting commercial nuclear projects.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a similar leadership position.
  • Successful management experience.
  • Demonstrated technical and management abilities, including proficient verbal and written communication skills and the ability to scope, task and control the work assigned to a team of engineers who support multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and critically review work products produced by Engineering teams and provide technical guidance, feedback, mentorship and perform required quality control functions.
  • Ability to constructively interact with both internal and external customers, including project management staff, clients and other engineering supervisors.
  • Self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Applies experience and judgment with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Proven ability to successfully implement planning, scheduling and tracking initiatives.
  • Broad understanding of the challenges of building and maintaining strong multidiscipline teams and an associated drive to improve both team capabilities and tools to achieve their goals.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Senior Reactor Operator License, Certification or Advanced Plant Systems training.
  • Project Management preferred.
  • Commercial Background preferred.
