About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – Database Operations & Automation to join the Chief Technology Office (CTO) aligned to Enterprise Database Management. This role supports centralized database operations across all lines of business. This entry‑level role provides hands‑on experience applying software engineering, automation, and data analysis concepts to support reliable, AI‑enabled database operations in a large‑scale, regulated environment. As part of the team, the associate will assist with AI‑driven analysis, SQL‑based data curation, and automation workflows to support database lifecycle activities such as provisioning, monitoring, performance validation, backup and recovery checks, and data quality controls. The role offers exposure to modern database technologies, operational tooling, and enterprise engineering standards while working closely with senior analysts and engineers. Requirements

  • 6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, Yugabyte, or similar platforms, gained through coursework, internships, projects, or work experience.
  • Ability to write SQL scripting for querying, validation, and reporting.
  • Experience or coursework using Python for automation, scripting, or data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and basic command‑line utilities.
  • Familiarity with automation concepts such as scripting, pipelines, or infrastructure automation.
  • Ability to leverage AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Copilot) to support analysis, documentation, or automation tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, and operational risks in data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with AI‑driven analysis and reporting, applying basic machine learning concepts, SQL, and automation tools under guidance.
  • Curate, query, and validate datasets to support database monitoring, performance analysis, and operational decision‑making.
  • Help build and maintain simple analytical and automation workflows, including scripts and scheduled jobs.
  • Monitor database and query performance, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • Draft data‑backed insights, technical notes, and dashboards to document findings and support stakeholders.
  • Support end‑to-end database lifecycle activities, including provisioning and deprovisioning, schema change reviews, backup and restore validation, and basic performance tuning.
  • Assist with monitoring and alert hygiene, patching coordination, and data quality checks.
  • Partner with senior analysts and engineers on process improvement, automation initiatives, and AI‑enabled operational tooling.
  • Participate in production and on‑call support activities, learning how enterprise database issues are identified, escalated, and resolved.
  • Follow Wells Fargo engineering standards related to risk management, documentation, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.
