As an Engineered Wood Products Design Technician, you have the opportunity to take initiative, service, and grow our engineered wood customers. This position will expose you to every aspect of the Weekes engineered wood business as you work with all of our Weekes EWP/sales team. Requirements

  • We strongly value prior experience in residential construction methods, the ability to read and decipher residential construction blueprints, and CAD design.
  • Able to handle multiple projects occurring simultaneously with a sense of urgency for goal achievement.
  • Friendly and genuinely interested in the business, its goals and the needs of others, including the company, the team, and our customers.
  • Detail work is a major focus of the job and needs to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently.
  • Clean driving record for the past 5 years
  • Travel to customer and vendor locations.

Responsibilities

  • Working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines.
  • Work with the EWP and account sales teams, and operation personnel to maximize sales and coordinate activities.
  • Calculate loading of joists, beams, and columns using software and charts.
  • Develop engineered floor, roof, and wall layouts from blueprints using CAD software.
  • Provide technical assistance to our customer base with sizing structural numbers and troubleshooting structural issues over the phone, in the field, and on blueprints.
  • Interacting with architects & engineers to ensure successful drawing completion
  • Assist with inbound and outbound phone calls from customers.
  • Develop and maintain product knowledge through training and ongoing learning.
  • Be a motivated team builder, able to focus on developing long-term relationships.
  • Placing and owning customer orders all the way through to delivery.
  • Travel to customers and assist with account management.
