About The Position

The Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of all club facilities and infrastructure. This role ensures that all buildings, systems, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, supporting a seamless and elevated experience for members and associates. This position oversees daily engineering operations, preventative maintenance programs, and supports capital projects, while assisting the director in leading and developing a high-performing engineering team. The Engineer reports directly to the Director of Engineering and works closely with all department leaders.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of progressive engineering/maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality, private club, or resort environments
  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and work order platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a luxury or member-focused environment preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform physical labor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • EPA Certification (HVAC/Refrigeration)
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar
  • OSHA certifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and develop the Engineering/Maintenance team, including technicians
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards aligned with SPMC values
  • Partner with department leaders to proactively address facility and operational repairs and needs
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of all club facilities, including clubhouse, golf facilities, dining outlets, and Aspire
  • Ensure all building systems are operating efficiently (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
  • Maintain property appearance and functionality at a luxury private club standard
  • Respond to and resolve maintenance issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program
  • Implement systems to track work orders, equipment lifecycle, and asset performance via MaintenX
  • Ensure all equipment is properly serviced and maintained to extend useful life
  • Support the Director of Engineering in planning and execution of capital improvement projects
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Assist in monitoring timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, fire/life safety, environmental, etc.)
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all associates
  • Lead safety training and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and PPE
  • Support emergency preparedness and response protocols
  • Support the Director of Engineering in developing and managing departmental budgets
  • Monitor costs while maintaining high standards of quality and service
  • Assist in sourcing and managing vendor relationships and service contracts
