About The Position

Assist in planning for scheduled regulatory shipyards, manage future shipyard budget projections, review, and update regulatory compliance dates, identify, and track long lead time equipment for scheduled shipyard periods, and support various other Engineering related shore side projects.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment with Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF, and Gantt Charts.
  • High school diploma: college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years as an Engineer in the marine transportation industry.
  • Must be able to climb 90-degree vertical ladders.
  • Must be able to pass company and USCG physical.
  • Must be able to board vessels for asset visits.

Responsibilities

  • Develop/ maintain accurate out-year shipyard budgets.
  • Establish equipment hours for future shipyard periods and work with vendors to obtain quotations and identify long lead time items. Build into out-year budgets.
  • Manage the procurement of long lead time items, ensuring they are in hand prior to scheduled shipyard dates.
  • Assist in the pre-shipyard planning process, including review of specifications, and distributing specifications to vendors and shipyards for bid.
  • Track bid responses to ensure shipyards and vendors have provided bids by the due date.
  • Assist shipyards and vendors to board the assets to conduct ship checks prior to bid submittals.
  • Receive and review scheduled Gantt Charts from the shipyards during the RFP process; ensuring shipyard days bid accuracy.
  • Manage questions from the shipyards and vendors during the RFP process.
  • Maintain regulatory required shipyard schedules and distribute them amongst all departments.
  • Supporting company safety and quality objectives through the Engineering Planning Department.
  • Assisting with the development of the fleet maintenance and repair budget.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Engineering General Manager.
