About The Position

Unison, a GE Aerospace company, is the leading provider of differentiated engine controls, accessories, and performance monitoring solutions in the Aerospace, Defense & Space segments. Serving both original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers, Unison designs, manufactures and supplies the most advanced components and systems in the world. The Product Definition Engineer (PDE) will be responsible for developing unique, weight optimized, mechanical packaging solutions that meet customer requirements while considering aspects such as cost, reliability, manufacturing, and maintainability. The PDE will also be responsible for documenting designs utilizing the latest drafting standards. Projects will predominantly be designing high speed permanent magnet alternators and temperature sensors.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or High School Diploma/GED with at least 4 years of Design and/or Engineering experience).
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens.
GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Overall ownership and accountability of product definition for assigned projects from launch through production.
Perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis.
Develop complete drawing packages and lead drawing reviews.
Prepare presentations and present at reviews.
Have a thorough understanding of Engineering Drawing Practices ASME Y14.100
Have a thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5-2009.
Interpret and clarify customer technical expectations.
Develop low-cost solutions to meet unit cost targets.
Define and maintain technical compliance to customer requirements.
Develop design concepts for technical proposals.
Develop fixtures and tooling.
Legacy product improvements and manufacturing support.
Internal research & development.
Resolution of field issues.
