About The Position

Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Requirements

  • 9 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field
  • 7 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree
  • 4 years of relevant professional experience with a PhD

  • Degree in Material Science or Related field
  • expertise in analysis and testing/modeling
  • Ability to waterfront issues as they emerge, ability to delelop and manage, budget and schedule individual project timelines
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problem statements
  • Understanding of shipbuilding process with dtrong data analytic skills with experience developing, tracking/monitoring tools such as ROI, performance, cot, etc.
  • Confortable working alone, but also in team environment where cross cokkaboration is critical to executing tasks.
