About The Position

The Engineer II, Reliability and Configuration Control is the primary point of contact for all reliability ‑ related operational and technical issues within Technical Services. The role is responsible for performing reliability analyses, root ‑ cause investigations, and initiating and monitoring initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce aircraft out ‑ of ‑ service events, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. This position also performs research and analysis to maintaining configuration control, update engineering documentation, and supports department projects and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum of associates degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Technology or a related field; combination of relevant education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a 121 airline environment Technical Services / Engineering department or comparable maintenance experience.
  • Valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) rating may be accepted in lieu of degree, with equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior 121 airline experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze component, assembly, and airframe reliability issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead reliability improvement projects by creating business cases, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and driving initiatives to reduce unplanned out ‑ of ‑ service events.
  • Provide periodic updates on the status, progress, and effectiveness of reliability initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, vendors, and lessors to support data acquisition, analysis, compliance, and project execution.
  • Develop and implement engineering documents, including EAs, EOs, FCDs, Engineering Specifications, Engineering Drawings, Publication Change Requests, and FMIS Engineering Controls (ECs).
  • Conduct research and analysis on components using IPCs, ADs, SBs, engineering documents, and other technical data to maintain and update the IPC Supplement, FMIS, and component research databases.
  • Edit FMIS entries to ensure accurate configuration control and correct discrepancies.
  • Interpret and review drawings, technical data, 14 CFRs, ADs, SBs, engineering documents, and Fleet Campaign Directives to ensure technical and regulatory compliance.
  • Verify that vendor SBs, engineering documents, and supporting materials include proper approvals and meet Title 14 CFR and internal standards.
  • Work with Engineering teams and lessors to ensure comprehensive compliance and technical substantiation.
  • Assist aircraft Maintenance departments with retrieving and analyzing aircraft information as needed.
  • Provide technical support during Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events.
  • Ensure proper documentation exists for the authorization and control of aircraft parts.
  • Serve as a researcher, technical author, and mentor on engineering projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance Engineering department processes, documentation quality, and overall efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Authority to revise and modify engineering documents and FMIS entries in accordance with company processes.
  • Authority to conduct OJT training for department personnel.
  • Signature authority in the Manager’s absence, within delegated limits.
  • Modify and review Frontier Engineering Component Configuration documentation
  • Modify and review Engineering Component Configuration settings in FMIS
  • Generate Publication Change Requests (PCRs) to modify maintenance documentation
  • Modify part requirements in FMIS
  • Creation of SB and VSB tracking items in FMIS
  • Review and Analysis of RIL and Parts Pool Configuration Change Requests
  • Generate requisitions in FMIS and engineering documentation for acquisition of required items related to regulatory and company requirements
