About The Position

The Reliability Engineer II provides technical expertise to support product reliability and cross-functional operations. This role analyzes complex mechanical and electrical systems, identifies issues, and develops solutions while supporting product design, application, and system integration to improve functionality, safety, and performance. The position converts field performance data and failure events into actionable improvements by leading failure analysis, determining root causes, and driving corrective actions. The engineer owns key reliability metrics including failure rates, MTBF, and field performance trends ensuring measurable gains in product performance. Partnering with Quality, Process Engineering, and Operations, the role ensures reliability is designed into products and sustained through manufacturing and field execution. It also supports standardized troubleshooting methods, diagnostic tools, and continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, testing, and validation. Success is defined by proactively identifying risks, prioritizing high-impact issues, and translating complex technical challenges into actions that improve reliability, reduce COPQ, and enhance customer experience.

Requirements

  • Education Required 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering from accredited university.
  • Experience Required 3 Years Professional experience or equivalent.
  • Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Required Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers. Must possess and maintain a valid United States passport.
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation systems, including internal combustion engines, electrical distribution, telemetry, and integrated mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, including failure modes, degradation mechanisms, and lifecycle performance.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA), failure analysis methodologies, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Knowledge of power systems design concepts, system integration, and real-world operational behavior.
  • Understanding of genset controllers, control systems architecture, and system communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, validation strategies, and risk-based design and testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of field and bench testing methods, including test development and performance validation.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of complex electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems in both field and controlled environments.
  • Strong data analysis skills using Excel or equivalent tools to identify trends, failure modes, and systemic risks.
  • Ability to lead root cause investigations and drive CAPA actions through to effective closure.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing test plans, validation strategies, and field trials aligned to real-world conditions.
  • Ability to translate reliability data (MTBF, failure rate, uptime) into clear, prioritized engineering actions.
  • Skilled in developing diagnostic tools, troubleshooting procedures, and technical service documentation.
  • Ability to provide high-level technical support and resolve complex system and installation issues.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and field teams.
  • Ability to influence product design through data-driven recommendations, DFMEA input, and validation feedback.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including reporting, documentation, and training delivery.
  • Ability to train and mentor internal teams and customers on systems, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Capability to manage and lead projects across multiple departments with competing priorities.
  • Ability to act as a technical expert and trusted advisor across field operations, engineering, and customer interfaces.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude combined with confidence working around electrical power and control systems.
  • Ability to proactively identify reliability risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities before failure occurs.
  • Ability to connect field conditions to engineering design gaps and drive continuous product improvement.
  • Ability to balance hands-on troubleshooting with strategic reliability initiatives and long-term improvements.
  • Ability to operate effectively in both field environments and structured testing/engineering settings.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize high-impact issues, and make sound technical decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between customers, field teams, and engineering to resolve advanced technical issues.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ) and increase system uptime.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support field operations, testing, and customer sites.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 4 Years of multi-disciplinary RCA (Root Cause Analysis) / troubleshooting experience.
  • 3 Years of low voltage control & automation experience.
  • 3 Years of experience with SCADA systems.
  • Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred.
  • General understanding of PLC systems and programming concepts (preferred).
  • Awareness of safety standards and field requirements, including ability to obtain PEC and H2S certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert on Mesa systems (power generation, engines, electrical distribution, telemetry, and integrated mechanical/electrical systems)
  • Support and collaborate with failure analysis engineers; lead reliability investigations and projects
  • Analyze field performance data to identify trends, failure modes, and systemic risks
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) through closure
  • Own and report reliability metrics (MTBF, failure rate, uptime, repeat failures), translating data into prioritized engineering actions
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and field teams to improve reliability, serviceability, and maintainability
  • Influence product design through DFMEA, validation criteria, and risk-based design reviews
  • Develop and execute test plans, validation strategies, and field trials to confirm reliability improvements
  • Ensure testing reflects real-world conditions and approve product readiness based on performance data
  • Improve troubleshooting practices by developing diagnostic tools, procedures, and service guidance
  • Provide remote and onsite technical support, resolving complex system and installation issues
  • Communicate field insights to engineering to address design gaps and improve product performance
  • Develop technical documentation, reports, and schematics to support engineering and field operations
  • Train and cross-train internal teams and customers on products, systems, and emerging technologies
  • Act as a liaison between customers, field teams, and engineering for advanced technical issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce COPQ, increase uptime, and enhance customer experience
  • Travel as needed to support field operations, testing, and customer sites
