About The Position

As an Electromechanical Engineer with GE Aerospace, you'll be part of a highly respected team of Engineers and Designers developing solutions and high-reliability Electrical and Mechanical products for the aerospace industry. You’ll be a member of an Integrated Product Team primarily in a sustaining engineering role but also be responsible for completing on-time designs from initial concepts through final qualification and production release. You will be working to define opportunities to automate processes and develop the solutions. This position is full time, onsite, in Loves Park, IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in Engineering and/or Design).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Engineering and/or Design.
  • Minimum of 3 years Electric Motor problem solving and Design experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Electric Motor, RVDT, Resolver, and electric component problem solving and design.
  • Experience with Mechanical problem solving and design.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with root cause corrective action tools (Tops8D).
  • Familiarization with 3D CAD.
  • Familiarity with an engineering change process.
  • Familiarity with aerospace qualification.
  • Familiarity with electronic controllers, flow control valves, and electric motors.

Responsibilities

  • Electric Motor, RVDT, Resolver, Electrical component problem solving and design.
  • Mechanical component problem solving and design.
  • Build/Test custom electronic test equipment assemblies.
  • Design custom electronic test equipment assemblies.
  • Alternate electronic part/material source selections and substantiation.
  • Obsolescence management.
  • Repair / refurbishment of existing fixture designs.
  • Design changes.
  • Design change analysis, planning and testing.
  • Ensure all interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by component owner of mating/interfacing parts.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
