About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
• Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with industrial motors, motor controllers, and drives is desired, including experience with PLCs, VSDs, and network communications
• Power distribution and control experience
• Experience with developing and reviewing military standard environmental qualification experience (Shock, Vibe, EMI)
• MS computer skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly, accurately, and with technical rigor
• The ability to interface with a variety of organizations, including vendors, government representatives, and shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop, install, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment
• The ability to work in a team to support comprehensive engineering design processes from inception through completion
