About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. The ideal candidate will have the following: Experience with industrial motors, motor controllers, and drives is desired, including experience with PLCs, VSDs, and network communications. Power distribution and control experience is desired. Experience with developing and reviewing military standard environmental qualification experience is preferred (Shock, Vibe, EMI)

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

MS computer skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly, accurately, and with technical rigor.
The ability to interface with a variety of organizations, including vendors, government representatives, and shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop, install, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
The ability to work in a team to support comprehensive engineering design processes from inception through completion.
