About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. If you are in Electrical Engineer, looking for expanding and moving up next level of professional engineer fields in your carrier. If the answer is YES. Then, join a diverse Advanced Electrical System team for technical fleet support on the FORD and NIMITZ class ships. The candidate should have some experience in the Control Systems and equipment of the systems function and/or involving experience with the controls integration of motors, motor drives, variable frequency drive, and encoders. Familiarity with carrier reactor and propulsion plant arrangement, operation and construction is also desired.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Having background in instrumentation and control system and/or any roles of designing/analyzing, testing, and implementing of network control systems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Industry standards regarding design and verification of automation, Using software to develop model based system engineer and systems simulation, Program Logics Controllers (PLC), Distribution Control Systems (DCS), Network communication topology (Ethernet switches, Serial digital, and third party data link protocols), Human Machine Interface (Remote and local control panels), and basic understand of cyber security industrial standard for implementing in the control systems.
  • The candidate should have experience working on and leading technical projects and should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
