About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. The Propulsion Plant Engineering Activity (PPEA) provides mission-driven engineering and design technical services supporting the U.S. Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program. This position is for an Electrical Engineer 3 with the Interior Communications group supporting in-service aircraft carriers. The individual will serve as the subject matter expert on the design, operation, and maintenance of assigned components and systems. The selected candidate will provide technical direction to resolve fleet issues and lead design changes and modifications through all development stages, including requirements definition, design, qualification testing, and integration to address obsolescence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • US Citizenship Required

  • Interior communications systems, networks and sensor
  • R&D knowledge of software, hardware, HMI
