Reports to: Energetic Materials Engineer Work Location: Clear Lake, SD Functional Area: Energetic Materials Required Travel: None Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $24.00+ hr/DOE Schedule: 4–10-hour shifts Job Summary: The Energetic Materials Clerk is responsible for tracking of energetic material and movements related to building, dry house, and bunker inventory; the position provides administrative support to the energetic materials department.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States (ITAR restrictions).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to work at this facility.
  • Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for all employees of Tech Ord.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes and implementation of procedures. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures.
  • Basic mathematical aptitude is required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Attention to detail and ability to record and document results is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and become proficient in our internal computer systems and applications.
  • Ability to work with other employees as part of a team and maintain a level of flexibility and versatility as well as ability to work independently to accomplish tasks using time management skills with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and document effectively in English.
  • Function Specific RCRA training upon hire.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to set and establish priorities and multi-task in support of end-result/goal.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks powder manufacturing orders and works with Production Control regarding all production manufacturing orders for any as issued discrepancies.
  • Verifies with Production Control/Quality regarding materials for manufacturing order releases.
  • Documents locations for manufacturing orders released for production and final counts.
  • Maintains inventory for dry houses, and bunkers and ensures compliance with explosive load limits.
  • Tracks movement sheets by manufacturing order to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Assists Material Handlers with questions about movement sheets and helps resolve any inventory concerns.
  • Helps identify and correct problems associated with over or under issuing of energetic materials.
  • Audits movement sheets, finds missing sheets and verifies lot numbers are correctly documented with what is being manufactured.
  • Conducts cycle counts on energetic materials by physically counting inventory in bunkers and buildings. Completes documentation and returns to Production Control.
  • Assists with investigating discrepancies of inventory between XRM, within the bunker logs and physical counts.
  • Fills out material verification sheets for use in production.
  • Maintains clean work area to comply with quality, safety standards and Housekeeping Policy.
  • Responsible for some hazardous waste management functions. Performs physical waste activities (e.g., labeling, and ensuring waste is handled properly, moving containers, collecting samples, deactivating materials, etc.).
  • Provides support in the pyro testing lab as needed.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
