About The Position

As a vital member of our team, the EMR Trainer collaborates with Leadership and cross functional stakeholders to optimize our EMR system. This involves designing efficient workflows, implementing new solutions, and providing expert support to end-users. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical policies and procedures, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The position is based in a busy office environment with frequent travel to clinics and occasional after-hours work.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Education, or a related field required.
  • 3 years of experience as an EMR Trainer or a similar role in a healthcare setting required.
  • Google Suite proficiency.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools (statistical software, Excel) and presentation software. Knowledge of data analysis methodology.
  • Strong commitment to and affinity for delivering the highest level of accuracy.
  • Analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions within standards.
  • Identify technology problems and take proactive steps to document and implement best practices.
  • Exercise independent judgment with general direction.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people – providers, peers, vendors, and clinical staff.

  • Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred.
  • Physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 25 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time is required.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations throughout the week.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel to all UCHC facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all eCW training efforts across the network and ensure the standardization of training practice.
  • Oversee eCW upgrades and help with the various committee activities.
  • Act as an IT liaison to physicians and clinic staff regarding the EMR.
  • Provide relevant, efficient workflow and processing options to end users.
  • Manage database set up to include clearinghouse, statements, documentation templates, etc.
  • Ensure systems development and maintenance is performed in a timely manner.
  • Support clinical business users and service desk/IT staff to quickly troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve production issues with EMR applications.
  • Prepare reports and presentations of key operational activities.
  • Interact with IT and Business and Clinical Management, external vendors, IT Operations, and other upstream and downstream stakeholders.
  • Reporting/data analytics: Analysis and preparation of financial and health care information obtained from a variety of sources to include patient care systems, financial records, and demographic data.
  • Acquire/abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources.
  • Report healthcare data from conceptualization through presentation of data in clear, concise, easy-to-read format.
  • Develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary for projects and department functions.
  • In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Perform data entry and inspect current data for accuracy.
  • Develop graphs, reports, pivot tables, and presentations of project results.
  • Perform basic statistical analyses for projects and reports.
  • Assists QAQI team achieve performance goals though eCW mapping and standardized structured eCW data entry.
  • Assist with the yearly UDS and OSHPD Reports data gathering and validation
  • Create and present quality dashboards.
  • HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer: Involves oversight and management of all activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and compliance with UCHC’s policies, procedures, and standards governing the privacy, confidentiality, and security of all individually identifiable health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA).
  • Develop and monitor practices to ensure UCHC’s health information is secure from unauthorized access, protected from inappropriate alteration, physically secure and available to authorized users in a timely fashion.
  • Train in and disseminate security and privacy policies and practices.
  • Develop plan for timely resumption of access to information in the event of a serious disruption.
  • Provide leadership for HIPAA Program and in the planning, design and evaluation of privacy and security projects.
  • Develop privacy and security Policies & Procedures.
  • Develop corrective action procedures to mitigate the effects of an inappropriate use or disclosure of PHI by a member of the workforce.
  • Oversee handling (acquisition and management) of PHI including use and disclosure of PHI.
  • Oversee the use and release of information to ensure compliance with the privacy regulations, applicable state and federal law, professional standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and implement HIPAA administrative and record-keeping procedures.
  • Act as the responsible contact person for receiving and responding to individual complaints and for answering questions relating to UCHC information practices.
  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide training program.
  • Establish a routine internal privacy/security monitoring and audit program; ensure the workforce is following UCHC’s rules to mitigate the opportunity for an error to occur and reduce the damage if improper use or release is detected.
  • Work with management, staff, and others to ensure protection of patient privacy.
  • Review external audit processes of business partners.
  • Attend and lead monthly (at a minimum) staff/department meetings.
  • Arrange at least quarterly staff meetings to educate and train staff and to improve eCW workflow efficiencies.
  • Provide staff training that was developed or arranged by the corporation.
  • Seeks opportunity to collaborate with other agencies in promoting eCW best practice workflows
  • Attend eCW superuser group meetings, attend (if deemed necessary by administration) eCW annual General/Health Center Conference.
