About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill an EMR Trainer position for our client. Location: San Diego, CA Duration: 2 years Duties: Deliver comprehensive training programs for end-users on the Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Provide “at-the-elbow” support to clinicians and staff to improve system adoption and workflow efficiency. Conduct in-person rounding at assigned clinics 3–4 days per week, with 1–2 administrative days remote (schedule varies based on operational needs). Analyze system usage data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improving provider efficiency and workflow optimization. Share actionable data insights with providers and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to enhance EMR utilization. Support enterprise-wide and division-specific system activations, upgrades, and implementations. Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, and workflow documentation using standardized templates. Collaborate closely with Clinical Informaticists and cross-functional teams to align training with clinical and operational goals. Manage and resolve EMR-related tickets through ServiceNow, ensuring timely issue resolution and user satisfaction. Customize training approaches to meet the unique needs of various departments and user groups.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of patient care workflows, clinical processes, and healthcare operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and soft skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Highly organized with strong planning, prioritization, and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable training strategies.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in education, training, or systems training.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field, education, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (preferred).
  • Experience with EMR systems (Cerner strongly preferred) and/or clinical or healthcare IT environments.
  • Experience supporting end-users in a clinical or hospital setting is highly desirable.
  • Master’s degree in education, training, informatics, or a related field.
