About The Position

Position Summary: The Employee/Labor Relations Specialist collaborates with Sr. Director of Employee and Labor Relations to provide expertise and guidance to all levels of management related to employee and labor relations issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years HR related experience in an employee relations, labor relations, or HR Generalist role.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in HR or related field is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with experience specific to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to managers on policies and labor relations, including conducting sensitive investigations and monitoring disciplinary procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of all Guthrie Policies and Procedures, organizational structure and operations, including employee substance abuse policy. Provides training to managers on HR policies.
  • Administer HR policies in a consistent and fair manner. Must collaborate with Human Resources Senior Leadership Team and other HR staff as necessary to insure consistent application of policies and procedures and recommends updates and changes as appropriate.
  • Serve as point of contact for employees and management for any employment issue.
  • Conduct work environment assessments as needed for departments, units, or workgroups.
  • Partner with HR Leadership to provide HR support to leadership at all Guthrie entities as assigned. Provide support for various HR Projects and/or provide basic HR maintenance coverage.
  • Collaborates with HR Leadership to ensure that the Employee Relations Division remains current with the changing regulatory and/or employment law environment.
  • Assists managers and employees with ADA concerns and recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Title VII, Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and National Labor Relations Act.
  • Identifies and communicates HR related risks & issues to Sr. HR Leaders and collaborates with HR Leadership to solve tactical workforce problems and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law for Pennsylvania and New York. Is able to collect and process EEOC charges with the assistance of the TGC attorney.
  • Conduct Exit Interviews and report on data as necessary.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of site specific employee recognition events.
  • Assist hospital, medical group, and practice operational leaders with compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Is aware of Title IX policy and assists with investigations and training as needed.
  • Maintain current understanding of Guthrie’s Compensation program.
  • Is aware of the Employee Assistance Program benefits and refers as appropriate.
  • Assist Total Rewards Director with the implementation or communication related to benefit and compensation programs.
