About The Position

Performs advanced nerve conduction studies (NCS) and provides technical assistance for physician-performed electromyography (EMG). Works independently, using advanced clinical judgment and technical skill to deliver safe, accurate, and patient-appropriate studies for a broad range of neuromuscular conditions. Selects and tailors study protocols within established guidelines, optimizes recordings through real-time troubleshooting, and communicates pertinent technical findings to the supervising physician. Builds patient and provider trust through clear communication, education, and attentive care. Adheres to all regulatory, organizational, and departmental standards for quality, safety, and privacy.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic Technology program OR Associate’s degree (or higher) in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, or a related health science field
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • R.NCS.T – Registered Nerve Conduction Studies Technologist (ABRET or AAET) OR CNCT – Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (ABEM)
  • 3 years recent relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of peripheral nerve and muscle anatomy, physiology, and neuromuscular disease processes relevant to NCS/EMG.
  • Proficiency in performing routine and specialized NCS (motor, sensory, late responses, comparative and segmental studies) with appropriate technical adjustments and artifact control.
  • Ability to recognize normal and abnormal NCS waveforms and distinguish technical issues from true physiologic abnormalities within technologist scope, with appropriate escalation to the physician.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, basic electrophysiology, and the operating principles and safety considerations of electrodiagnostic equipment.
  • Strong patient-care and communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly, respond to anxiety or discomfort, and interact professionally with patients, families, and clinic staff.
  • Effective time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing clinic needs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary clinical team.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional competence through continuing education and meeting CE requirements associated with R.NCS.T or CNCT credential maintenance.
  • Ability to ensure the privacy and security of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
