About The Position

The Emerging Assistant General Manager (AGM) role is a developmental leadership position designed to prepare high-potential leaders for future Assistant General Manager roles within Walmart Distribution Centers. This role provides hands-on experience leading operations, developing teams, managing financial performance, and executing end-to-end supply chain processes in a complex, fast-paced facility. Participants will build operational and leadership capability through real-time execution, cross-functional partnership, and structured development aligned with the Walmart Performance System (WPS). This role offers a structured pathway to Assistant General Manager leadership, exposure to end-to-end distribution center operations, hands-on leadership experience in a complex, high-volume environment, and ongoing coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities. It is ideal for leaders who are ready to expand operational scope and leadership impact, have experience in supply chain, distribution, or operations, and are motivated to grow into a full Assistant General Manager role, demonstrating strong leadership behaviors aligned with Walmart values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain or a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 2 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
  • OR 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Operations Manager including supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
  • OR 4 years experience in a senior management role in an operations/distribution/logistics /retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide.

  • Both Bachelor's Degree in a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 3 years experience in a senior management role in an operations/distribution/logistics environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide

  • Senior-level experience managing multiple functional areas (e.g., receiving, shipping, QA, order filling) within a warehouse or Logistics network

Responsibilities

  • Develop operational, leadership, and supply chain expertise in preparation for an Assistant General Manager role
  • Support execution of business plans to achieve facility goals related to production, quality, safety, and service
  • Lead and develop associates and leaders by setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting growth opportunities
  • Manage assigned financial responsibilities including budget tracking, asset utilization, and performance reporting
  • Forecast staffing, workload, and performance needs to meet business demands
  • Investigate and resolve associate, customer, and supplier concerns using sound judgment and collaboration
  • Ensure compliance with supply chain standards, regulations, and company procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement using WPS principles and root-cause problem solving
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Transportation, Merchandising, Supply Chain) to support facility objectives
  • Represent the facility through community engagement and company-sponsored initiatives
