An Emergency Department (ED) Technician provides crucial, direct support to clinical staff up to their licensure level (EMT-B, AEMT, Paramedic and LNA) in fast-paced emergency settings. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing EKGs, drawing blood, splinting injuries, assisting with procedures, and managing patient transport, all while maintaining clean, stocked rooms. DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE: The Emergency Department is a Level III facility according to the guidelines of the Accreditation Manual for Hospitals. The 14-bed unit is always open 24 hours a day with at least one physician on duty and a roster of on-call physicians and specialists available within thirty minutes. Registered nurses staff the department. All nurses are ACLS/PALS/BLS certified. The patient population includes patients of all ages, and care provided ranges from definitive treatment of non-urgent, urgent and emergent medical and surgical conditions to stabilization and transport of the critically ill or injured. Birthing Center nursing staff are available for consultation or to assist in the care of neonates, infants and obstetrical patients.
