An Emergency Service Technician, who excels in this role: Emergency Services Technician performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area. Employee is also required to perform telemetry monitoring. The Emergency Service Technician, under the supervision of the Emergency Room Director performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area. Employee is also required to perform telemetry monitoring.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Successful completion of nurse aide training program required with current State of Michigan Nursing Assistant certification required at hire or within 4 months of hire OR Graduate of Nursing School and Current Michigan LPN License required, or successful completion of Medical Assistant program required with current CMA certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Aide license is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors.
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls.
  • Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
  • Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary
  • Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
  • Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
  • Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
  • Perform continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
  • Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
  • Other tasks that may be assigned.
