Job Summary : The Emergency Services Technician performs administrative/clerical duties in support of an assigned area. Is also required to perform telemetry monitoring. Reports to : Emergency Room Director FLSA : Non-exempt

Requirements

  • Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program is preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Aide license is preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors.
  • Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls.
  • Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
  • Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse.
  • Ask for clarification when necessary.
  • Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
  • Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
  • Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
  • Perform continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately.
  • Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order.
  • Reports on equipment problems to supervisor.
  • Other tasks that may be assigned.
