About The Position

Emergency Management-- Responsible for the coordination and implementation of emergency preparedness standards to facilitate a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Organizes, coordinates, plans and conducts emergency drills and exercise. Provides oversight and facilitates the emergency management alert/notification system, emergency management supply inventory, and updates. Develops and maintains the System’s Emergency Operations Plan and annual submission to state regulatory authorities. Ensures each property meets all emergency management DNV Healthcare and CMS standards and maintains supporting documentation. Participates as a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT) during disasters/emergencies. Quality Improvement—works in conjunction with the Emergency Management and Trauma Program Manager. Assists with the data coordination and performance improvement, and education and prevention activities. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees. Requirements

  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Registered Nurse or Paramedic preferred but not required.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • One year of experience in emergency management preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
  • Must have a basic understanding of regulatory functions in a healthcare setting and thorough knowledge of state and federal laws, as they apply to Emergency Management.
  • Must be able to navigate within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Job requires traveling throughout the Singing River service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation.
