Special Education Teacher - Henry A. Coffeen Elementary School SCSD2 is seeking a creative, professional and hard working school teacher to join the Henry A. REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Special Services Director SUPERVISES: Assigned paraprofessionals JOB GOAL: To provide specially designed instruction and appropriate education to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment based on team decisions. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates a safe, productive, and positive learning environment that is the least restrictive, is conducive to learning, and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students. Serves as the Case Manager for assigned students including, but not limited to, completing IDEA Program forms; sending written notices to parents; and completing all paperwork that is required either by the building principal and/or the Special Services Director. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of goals and objectives listed on student IEP's and conducts instruction for growth in general education based on individual student needs. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for increasing student progress, and on goals and objectives; monitors student progress regularly and collaborates with district specialists as needed. Assumes the teacher's legal responsibilities in the supervision of students. Assumes an equitable share of responsibility associated with the teaching profession which may be assigned by the principal or Special Services Director, and which may relate to committee work, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Approximately 185 days; salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

Requirements
