The Elementary Classroom Teacher designs and leads an engaging, student-centered classroom experience that supports academic growth, character development, and a strong sense of community. This role plans and delivers developmentally appropriate instruction, builds strong relationships with students and families, and collaborates closely with grade-level teams and specialists. Elementary faculty at STS are reflective practitioners who are open to feedback, willing to try new approaches, and committed to creating inclusive learning environments where every student feels known and supported.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a related field; master’s degree or teaching certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience teaching in a school setting, preferably with elementary-aged students.
  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary instructional best practices.
  • Experience with developing curriculum across core subject areas, including math, science, social studies, and literacy.
  • Ability to utilize assessment data to guide instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students.
  • Ability to actively supervise students both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
  • Readiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment
  • Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or teaching certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with literacy instruction aligned to the Science of Reading preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction across core subject areas.
  • Incorporates hands-on experiential learning opportunities and adjusts instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Integrates social-emotional learning and character development into daily classroom practice.
  • Uses a variety of assessment methods to monitor student growth and inform instructional decisions.
  • Implements classroom management practices that support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
  • Fosters student independence, collaboration, and confidence within a positive, growth-oriented classroom culture.
  • Regularly provides meaningful feedback to families regarding student progress and classroom learning.
  • Collaborates with specialists, counselors, and families to support individual student needs.
  • Creates and maintains a classroom environment where all students feel safe, included, and valued.
  • Actively engages in the life of the school and contributes to community-wide events and programs.
  • Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
  • Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborates across departments and participates in grade level and division meetings to support a cohesive preschool through eighth grade experience.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Elementary Center.
