About The Position

Electrophysiology Cardiologist | Department of Internal Medicine Job Summary: The Electrophysiology Cardiologist provides high-quality specialty care for patients with cardiac rhythm disorders in a community-based hospital setting. This role involves evaluating and managing complex arrhythmias, performing electrophysiology studies and catheter-based ablation procedures, and implanting and managing cardiac rhythm devices. The electrophysiologist collaborates with cardiology and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care while supporting comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. 2 procedural EP days per week 2 days of outpatient clinic per week Inpatient general cardiology coverage (rotating call schedule) EPIC EMR system Mmodal dictation with possible AI enabled scribe in near future

Requirements

  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship training within specialty.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible.
  • Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge in area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area
  • Must have good interpersonal, verbal and oral communication skills
  • Must be self-directed and take initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior

Nice To Haves

  • Preferable experience in performing Watchmans (LAAO) and Pulsed Field Ablations
  • Preferable experience and willingness to perform atrial fibrillation ablations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders in inpatient and outpatient community-based settings
  • Perform electrophysiology studies and catheter-based ablation procedures appropriate to a community hospital program
  • Implant, program, and manage cardiac rhythm devices, including pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT devices
  • Interpret ECGs, ambulatory and implantable cardiac monitoring data, and intracardiac recordings
  • Provide longitudinal outpatient follow-up and continuity of care for electrophysiology patients
  • Collaborate closely with general cardiologists, hospitalists, emergency department providers, anesthesia, nursing, and procedural teams
  • Participate in shared call coverage and support hospital-based electrophysiology services
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
