We have an opening for an Electronics Technologist/Senior Electronics Technologist to support Pulsed Power Research and Development (R&D). In this role, you will support experimental campaigns by helping develop diagnostic sensors and operating high-voltage, high-current, and explosively driven R&D systems. You will also perform console operations for experimental subsystems and diagnostics, including data acquisition and related support functions. You will help solve complex technical problems through regular interactions with colleagues and engineers at Site 200 and off-site locations. This position is in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED) within the Engineering Directorate. This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work. This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level. You will Provide general electronic technical support to engineering, scientific, and technical staff to plan and conduct experiments using specialized explosive, electronic and pulsed power systems at LLNL and off-site locations. Identify and acquire moderately complex data and results to report findings, identify problems and utilizing advanced methods, perform analysis using established methods. Design, diagnose, troubleshoot, test, evaluate, upgrade, and maintain moderately complex electronic and pulsed power systems. Contribute to moderately complex preliminary design concepts and engineering decision processes. Interpret and work from sketches, drawings, schematics, and verbal or written instructions to troubleshoot and resolve problems at the system, subsystem, or component level. Use advanced methods of data collection. Perform work under general supervision for the production and assembly of electronic devices and systems. Maintain a high level of safety while adhering to written safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional job responsibilities, at the 531.3 level Provide advanced technical support for experimental work and analyze complex preliminary data under minimal supervision. Maintain, test, calibrate, and repair advanced electronic circuits, instrumentation, control and diagnostic systems. Independently deploy, fabricate, troubleshoot, assemble, and disassemble complex electronic and/or electro-optic systems. Assist in developing and documenting test parameters, procedures, and safety documentation, and provide technical input to improve reliability of test setups.
