About The Position

This position, located at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, involves applying technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions. This position works under the technical guidance of a supervisor or higher-level technician and work product is audited for accuracy. Typical duties include: operating and maintaining Air Combat Training System (ACTS) and associated computer equipment; assisting with producing debriefing materials as required; verifying accuracy of information received; following technical guidance as instructed by higher level supervisors; assist the mission coordinator and range training officer as required; apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting instructions, manuals, or similar documents.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science is desired
  • Position requires a high school diploma plus successful completion of an accredited Technical Apprentice Program in Electronics or equivalent military training and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience at the journeyman level
  • This job requires the physical capability to lift, maneuver, and carry ACTS pods in a variety of environments, including shop, warehouse, bay, and flight-line
  • US Citizen // Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one is required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to assist in lifting, maneuvering, and carrying ACTS/ACMI pods in a variety of environments, including shop, warehouse, bay, and flight-line
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate basic and some advanced technical knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and devices, interpret circuit diagrams to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents, as well as demonstrate knowledge in the use of test instruments such as Oscilloscopes, signal generators, voltage and frequency meters, and computer control equipment and analyzers
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English

Responsibilities

  • Transport, install, and remove Airborne Subsystems (AS)/pods
  • Verify proper subsystem electro-mechanical interfaces with aircraft
  • Replace components and wiring circuits and repair simple electronic equipment
  • Take test readings using common instruments such as digital multimeters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes
  • Assist with periodic, preventive, and corrective AS/Pod maintenance (including ancillary equipment), as well as assist with GS/LM/RRU maintenance as required
  • Respond to notification of malfunctioning Airborne Subsystems/pods, including applicable ancillary equipment and RRUs
  • Assist with AS/pod installation & removal training, including ancillary and support equipment; assist with maintaining/updating training documentation as required
  • Assist with system installation, preparation for use and reshipment
  • Identify and report corrections/improvements to technical data
  • Identify and report product quality/material deficiencies
  • Identify and report supply discrepancies
  • Conduct inventories and maintain accountability records for Airborne Subsystems/pods, including ancillary and support equipment
  • Assist with inspection requirements and implementing approved configuration changes
  • Perform equipment status reporting, maintenance data collection and job documentation
  • Assist in performing corrosion prevention and control
  • Ensure compliance with BSEt Quality Control and Safety Programs
  • Other duties as assigned
