About The Position

This position may be assigned to one or multiple sections in ECB: (Non-Criteria Pollutant Instrumentation Support, Gaseous Criteria Monitoring Network, Ozone Network, Particulate Matter (PM), Instrumentation Support, and Infrastructure Support), to assist with maintaining and learning the ambient air monitoring equipment and the infrastructure technologies. Duties will include the configuration of equipment, shelters, computers, data loggers, cellular modems, and certifying calibration and measurement equipment. This will include the repair, certification, calibration and maintenance of air monitoring and laboratory equipment, perform quality assurance procedures, and manage equipment and shelters at air monitoring sites.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronics from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Responsibilities

  • Certifies monitors to assure field readiness, prepares site infrastructure, and installs monitors and associated equipment such as air samplers, calibrators, data loggers, computers and zero air devices.
  • Provides maintenance and technical support for this electronic equipment and the corresponding monitoring sites.
  • Use of electronic diagnostic test equipment/instrumentation and devices used to calibrate, certify, diagnose, repair, and modify the monitoring equipment and systems.
  • Use of forms and equipment / site logs required to process and document the numerous support activities.
  • Provide support to all DAQ sites to include weatherproofing shelters, heating/cooling, communications, security of the site, safety of personnel, etc.
