We are seeking an experienced Electronics Associate that is responsible for evaluating, testing, restoring, and preparing donated electronics and gaming items for resale through Goodwill’s ecommerce channels. This role plays a critical part in extracting the highest possible value from donated electronics while protecting company assets and ensuring customer confidence through accurate testing, data security, and proper listing practices. The associate will assess a wide range of items including computers, gaming consoles, accessories, vintage electronics, cameras, and other technology. Responsibilities include powering and testing devices, securely wiping personal data from storage devices, determining resale potential, and identifying items that may have value as parts if they cannot be fully restored. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and awareness of current and vintage electronics trends in the resale market. The Electronics Associate must also maintain strict data security practices and follow certified procedures when handling storage devices and personal data. Through technical skill and product knowledge, this position helps maximize ecommerce revenue while ensuring responsible handling of donated goods and company assets. Requirements

  • A+ or equivalent certification preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience working with electronics, computer hardware, or gaming systems.
  • Experience diagnosing or repairing electronics preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in resale, refurbishing, or electronics testing environments is a plus.
  • Experience with ecommerce platforms or online resale operations is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, power on, and test donated electronics to determine functionality, resale value, and appropriate sales channels.
  • Evaluate a wide range of technology products including: Desktop and laptop computers Gaming consoles and accessories Vintage electronics and gaming systems Cameras and audio equipment Computer components and peripherals Smart home devices General electronics
  • Diagnose functionality issues and determine whether items can be restored, repaired, sold for parts, or recycled.
  • Restore or revive devices when possible, through basic troubleshooting, component replacement, or system resets.
  • Ensure devices are accurately graded for condition and functionality prior to listing.
  • Follow certified data destruction protocols to securely wipe personal information from storage devices including: Hard drives Solid state drives Phones and tablets Gaming systems with internal storage Smart home electronics
  • Use approved software and methods to ensure all data is removed prior to resale.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance with company data security policies.
  • Handle electronics responsibly to protect customer data and company reputation.
  • Prepare tested electronics for ecommerce listings by documenting: Condition and cosmetic wear Functional status Missing components or accessories Testing results Specifications
  • Assist in creating accurate and detailed product listings that protect the organization and ensure transparency with customers.
  • Identify valuable product attributes, vintage demand, or collector value to maximize resale potential.
  • Stay informed on trends within the electronics and gaming resale markets.
  • Recognize high-value or collectible electronics, including vintage gaming systems and components.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize value through: Bundling components or accessories Selling individual parts when devices are non-functional Recognizing collectible or rare electronics
  • Ensure donated electronics are processed in ways that maximize resale value before considering recycling or disposal.
  • Handle all donated electronics with care and professionalism.
  • Ensure high-value electronics are stored securely and tracked properly in inventory systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tested items and their inventory status.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring proper handling, storage, and chain-of-custody for valuable devices.
  • Support inventory audits and maintain organized electronic storage areas.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in accordance with warehouse and ecommerce operational standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and operational procedures.
  • Support team productivity goals and operational efficiency within the ecommerce department.
